(being here is the first step!)
Free 15-Minute Discovery Call
A no-pressure conversation to share what's going on, ask questions, and determine whether Strong Roots is the right fit for you and your family.
Schedule Your Evaluation
We’ll complete a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation, assessing functional skills, daily routines, and areas of challenges using standardized and clinical assessment tools.
Create a Plan Together
After the evaluation, we’ll walk you through the clinical findings and recommendations. Together, you'll discuss priorities and collaborate on a personalized treatment plan with clear, measurable goals.
Start Seeing a Difference
With a clinically informed plan and consistent support, you'll begin to see meaningful progress in function, independence, and quality of daily life.
What to Expect
at your first visit
During your first session, Paula will take time to understand your full picture, including your pregnancy or postpartum experience, your daily routines, your home environment, and what's feeling hard.
From there, she'll work with you to create a personalized care plan. You'll always leave with something practical and actionable.
60–75 minutes for your initial evaluation
An in-home visit or via secure teletherapy
A conversation about your daily life, routines, and goals
Strong Roots Occupational Therapy is an out-of-network provider. This means we do not bill your insurance company directly, but many families are still able to receive partial reimbursement through their insurance plan. It fully depends on your insurance’s out-of-network benefits.
Insurance & Payment
After each session, we provide a superbill, which is a detailed receipt with the billing codes your insurance company needs. You can submit this directly to your insurer (usually online) for possible reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.
We recommend calling your insurance provider ahead of time to ask about your out-of-network occupational therapy benefits.
Some helpful questions to ask:
Do I have out-of-network occupational therapy benefits?
What is my out-of-network deductible?
What percentage is reimbursed after my deductible is met?
Do I need a referral or prior authorization?
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept major credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and Venmo.

About our services:
-
In New Jersey, you do not need a referral to begin occupational therapy. However, some insurance plans may require one for reimbursement purposes, so it's worth checking with your insurer before your first appointment.
-
Absolutely. Teletherapy sessions are available for families across New Jersey who prefer the convenience of receiving care from home. Many services, including consultations, postpartum support, and maternal mental health sessions, are offered virtually.
-
Every family's journey looks different. After your initial evaluation, Paula will discuss a recommended care plan with you. Some clients benefit from just a few targeted sessions; others prefer ongoing support. You'll always have a say in your plan.
-
A maternal health OT helps you navigate the real, everyday stuff that changes when you're pregnant or postpartum. That means your routines, your roles, your home setup, and your mental load. She looks at how your actual day works and helps you build habits and skills that feel sustainable, not overwhelming. Whether you're preparing for baby, recovering after birth, or figuring out how to feed and care for your little one, she meets you where you are.
-
Pregnancy and the postpartum period bring a lot of change quickly. An OT can help you plan for what's coming, adjust your home and routines, manage the mental and physical load, and figure out how to take care of yourself while taking care of a new baby. It's practical support for one of the biggest transitions of your life.
-
Sessions are conversational and hands-on. Your therapist will get to know your daily life, your challenges, and your goals, then work with you on real strategies you can actually use. There's no one-size-fits-all approach here. Every session is built around what you need right now.
-
An OT can help you understand what's typical at each stage, spot early signs that your child might need extra support, and give you tools to encourage development through everyday play and interaction. From newborns to young kids, the focus is on helping your little one thrive in a way that fits naturally into your family's routine.
-
Whether you're navigating breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or the introduction of solids, an OT can help troubleshoot challenges and build a feeding routine that works for both you and your baby. Feeding is about so much more than nutrition, and having support can make a real difference.
